In navolging van het grote succes in de Verenigde Staten, wil Sony een PlayStation Direct-winkel in Europa openen.
Dit nieuws komt naar boven nadat er een vacature is verschenen waarin Sony op zoek is naar naar een leidinggevende voor een Europese versie van de PlayStation Direct-winkel. In de vacature is tevens te lezen dat Sony het succes van de Amerikaanse PlayStation Direct-winkel ook in Europa wilt voortzetten.
The PlayStation Store & Services (PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Now,..) businesses have continued to deliver substantial growth and represents a significant proportion of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s overall revenues as well as approximately 15% of Sony’s revenues. It is also evolving rapidly towards new business models alongside dynamic changes in the Games industry, including the US launch of PlayStation Direct in September 2019.
As a part of this evolution, we are looking to build on the successful launch of new direct-to-consumer business in the US with the launch in Europe. We are seeking individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit, interested in working together at the forefront of online retail experiences aimed at exceeding the expectations of the gaming community.

In de Amerikaanse online winkel kun je direct PlayStation-consoles, -accessoires en -games bestellen via Sony zelf. Dit haalt dus de tussenweg van een retailer weg, waardoor je sneller je gekochte producten binnen zou moeten krijgen.
